The Good-looking Guy

Have you ever read something that you just could not believe? Well I have. There is a short story called The Handsomest Drowned Man In The World.  You have not lived if you haven't read it. The story is about a dead man who washed up on the beach one day. Now what inspired Gabriel Marquez to write a story about a dead man? I have no clue, but it's really not a bad story. The things I thought about most while reading this story was this man's size and his handsomeness.
This man was supposed to be a very large man. He was bigger and taller than any man anyone had ever seen. being big and tall has it's advantages as well as it's disadvantages. One advantage would be safety. I mean, I don't know too many people who will pick on someone twice their size. He would also have an advantage with the ladies. What woman wouldn't want a tall, handsome, strong, bulky guy? Just as you can love to be oversize, you can also learn to hate it. In the story it says that this man's feet probably hurt a lot. Whenever he went to visit people, he had to stand up the entire time. He could not sit down on anyone's furniture because he was so heavy. Maybe he stood against a wall, or walked around the whole time. Who knows? Another thing that was mentioned in the story was the making of this man's clothing. The women that had found, and were seeing to, this dead man had to make his clothes for his wake. None of the men the women knew was this big nor this tall; so the women had no choice but to make the clothes. It is usually a good thing when you have someone make your clothes because they're always a perfect fit. Not this guy. The clothes that the women made were still too small! I guess being smaller is better sometimes.
One thing that was mentioned an awful lot throughout the story was how handsome this man was. His name was Esteban. These women were going crazy over this man. I mean, he's dead for crying out loud! I do not care how gorgeous this man was. There is no way I would compare my husband or boyfriend to a lifeless man. It's ridiculous. I just cannot picture myself crying over a deceased man, especially one in which I've never known. These women are insane. I'm sure their husbands' are not that bad.
The Handsomest Drowned Man In The World is a really weird story in a good kind of way. If you have not read this story, you need to. I don't know what your version of the handsomest dead man ever is, but Esteban sounds like a pretty good-looking guy. I mean, not many people are going to cry over your death when they did not know you at all.
